The Ramadhan Eed Post

As many of you are probably aware Ramadhan has drawn to an end and ‘Eed is nigh!

The blessed month of Ramadhan in which fasting is prescribed is akin to a preparatory course..

In it we are encouraged to become god-fearing; to rush towards good deeds, spend profusely in charity and save our tongues, limbs and hearts from any evil – in short to reach the peak of spiritual excellence.

Whilst detoxing the self from both physical and spiritual maladies we are also told to spare a thought for the poor.

Though we abstain from food we know at the end of the day at sunset our kitchen tables will be groaning under the various items of food..Biscuits, sweet pastries and warming broths

Food is one of the key points of both Ramadhan and ‘Eed its the focus of the conversation, the R in in the Ramadhan and its pivotal in bringing the family together!

We didn’t make so much this year for ‘eed but heres a couple of snapshots from both Ramadhan and our prep for ‘Eed – hope you all get a flavour of the excitement!

There’s absolutely no celebration which is complete without a bunch of flowers

Death By Sugar

Salam alaykum, Peace, Marhaba and welcome!

I’ve been absent and lurking due to other commitments for what seems like forever but now I’m back!

Funnily enough I’ve noticed a huge influx of hits and traffic in the past week or so – Hallelujah!

Welcome Dear Friends! O Ye who stumbled across my humble virtual budoir don’t be shy – relax – mi casa es tu casa…feel free to leave me a message or something sometime 😉

Having extended warm welcomes & tied up the niceties, allow me to show you what my taste buds have been partying to, BOY have they been living it up.

A teeny tiny part of me is saying ‘Reem, are you mad?’

‘Do you really want to show the whole world what a fatty you are?’

Are you seriously going to show how you and a friend massacred not merely a single desert but three?’

The answer: yes I am

Huge thanks to my friend without whom the day would have been totally boring ❤ love you!

I could barely move an inch after.
Heck, I couldn’t even sleep.

My tummy was in pain as I rolled around and had a muted sugar rush.
I was on a Halal High.
Was it worth it? HELL YES!!!

P.S We didn’t just binge on sweets we had lunch too.
P. P. S Namely crispy chilli chicken, garlic prawns, steak, chips and schezwan noodles
P.P.P.S I’m on a diet from tomorrow.

Sugar Rush

My excuse is that its Easter.

Since I’m at home and have nothing better to do, I have been indulging in glorious calorific, sugar-laden treats.
Meet my creation, lovingly made by my beautiful fingers – THE best plum and almond tart – i’ve truly surpassed myself. [cue Hallelujah + heavenly lighting]

With some Vienetta – I couldn’t find vanilla ice cream so had to improvise, and what a pleasant discovery that was..

I know I should stop, because we all know when I stand on the scales next week I’ll probably be cursing.

but for now, I’ll just go and treat myself to another teeny tiny slice.
