Inject Your Wardrobe With Yellow

Being the quiet, shy, mousey sort of girl that I can sometimes be I tend to stay as FAR away from bright yellow as I can!

Neon pink, purple, green & even orange I can stomach but all-out yellow makes me shiver with fright. I envy those who can pull it off whilst looking cool, confident & suave.

Theoretically speaking – since I have dark hair & oliveish skin, yellow should look fantastic on me and so whats to fear? there’s just something about it which screams HI LOOK AT ME and makes me run a mile…however…whilst flicking through an arabic magazine I came across this beautiful outfit – j’adore – minus the earrings (hideous) but the dress oo la laa!

Dress from Blumarine

Granted, it’s not entirely yellow and the cynic in you will be screaming WOMAN can’t you see its black? but the splash of yellow is vibrant enough for me! I also love the contrasting lilac shadow – that’s not a combination I would have immediately thought of.

Can you brave yellow?
What’s your colour nemesis?

Art On Yo’ Face حنان النجادة

Loyal readers!

Surely you’ve been wondering where I’ve been? Eaten by a wild bear, fallen off the edge of the earth or just disappeared..bet you missed my random quirky posts…god knows I missed writing them 😦 but I was absolutely swamped in revision. Had my first exam…one down, three to go…

Today i’ve got a little something different for you. Yep thats right, to apologise for my absence I’m sharing an awesome make up video!Yes Make up, the secret arsenal of every intelligent woman…

Forget Bassam Fatouh & Hala Ajam…there’s a new face in town, and her name’s Hannan alNajjadah!

http://www.youtube.com/embed/fHAkoGkWnqw

I’m on mobile so not sure if its embedded. The video is in Arabic however she does state the products used…My fave products have to be the MUFE bronzer used for contouring & the Shu Umera foundation

Ahhh I can barely stop myself from ordering all of the products mentioned online and seriously flashing some plastic, however, I shall control myself…-deep breaths-

Will you be trying this look?

Dress Like Dello Russo

If we thought H&M struck gold with the Marni Collaboration then Anna Del Russos’ in an entirely different league..

I did try to contain myself, to stop myself from jumping on the bandwagon, of being swept up in the inherent wave of thrilled bloggers all singing praise of Anna Del Russo & her collaboration with H&M…but what’s a girl to do?

When faced with the tantalising prospect of owning such glam accessories, one just has to succumb – for writing is all you can do to let out steam – to quell the ignited fire.

This golden Alice-In-Wonderland collaboration will include evening clutches, jewellery, shoes and a supposed trolley (travel suitcase in british lay-man terms).

Here’s the sneak peak pic that showcases some of the items to be..gold, gold & more gold..yay!

My absolute favourite is the Fayrouz (turqoise) bag (I mean the gold one on left with turk stone) it reeks of versace, wealth and societies elite…How lush would it look paired with a jet black abaya & the almost-but-not-quite overdone YSL arty ring?

Yves Saint Laurent ring

I can’t wait! 😀

3abaya com entry

Since its the first time I’m using polyvore I don’t think I’ve done that bad!
Admittedly, its not awesome but there’s something we could work with…
or am I just kidding myself?

[edit] my mum just told me the dress is hideous and does not go in the slightest
she suggested a camel rust shade bordering on red; but won’t that be too much red?

Of Cupcakes, Macarons & Cardamom

It’s no secret that the things we cherished as young children continue to hold a secure place in our hearts…In fact, that very well may be the exact reason why the objects associated with fond childhood memories have the ability to become great marketing potentials, and have become phenomenal hits.

Lets take cupcakes as a prime example, a dozen well-baked, intricately decorated cupcakes will have us all shreiking with delight and you can bet your last riyal their’ll be a resonating chorus of oohs & aahs.

Their triumph? Perhaps reminiscent memoirs of baking with mama in the kitchen? Or the sheer detail and never-ending possibilities of flavours and designs? Maybe the exhiliration of no constraint?

Take Macarons as another. Yes, their taste and texture hold their own right BUT it’s the pastel shades – the primary colours of sorbet lemon, pistachio green and icy pink that truly makes us rub our hands with glee.

I must confess that It was with similarly kindled emotions that I ruffled through the pictures of Haal Incs’ 03 Abaya collection. Fun, suave, contemporary & at the same time down-right swanky. They’ve managed to hit the nail on the head – Yes Abayas – but all radiating energy, spirit & freedom.

Neons, colour blocking and a theme park!
Whats not to love?

IMO the ‘abandoned amusement park’ photoshoot is nothing short of inspired. Honestly, how many Abaya companies have you seen with such a playful concept?
I’ll answer that for you. Zero.
and I absolutely LOVE the lipstick! (must ask what was used)

They’ve sucessfully captured the essence of the line, reflecting exactly what their Abayas & Clientelle are – women with pizzaz, fun & whimsical, whilst simultaneously reinforcing exactly what their range is not – boring, dated & stuffy.

So as I depart to revise allow me to leave you with some wise words of wisdom:

Just as Haal (from ‘Heil’ cardamom) would be unanimously agreed upon to be a kitchen staple, A Haal Inc abaya may just be as crucial to your wardrobe!

Would you rock a Haal Inc piece?
